Fox is revealed (again) and is looking sharp. Teh Google is a buzz with Fox players drooling over his new Dragonball Z-esque scanner thingy. Christian over at The Tanooki seems to think he looks chubby. I disagree. “Run! Fly! Move boldly! For such moves are the essence of Fox!” Gotta love that Japanese enthusiasm.

Yoshi’s Island stage discussed. Planet Yoshi must be closer to the sun - instead of the time of day changing (ala Battlefield), it cycles through the seasons. That’s neat. Simple layout - ground level and one platform that “tilts to and fro”, plus the occasional hat platform atop a ghost’s head. They definitely noticed that hardcore players flocked to the little or no-nonsense levels in Melee.

New music isn’t normally a “OMG! Stop the presses!” situation, but holy shit. The posted “Metroid: Boss Battle Music (Ridley Fight)” is intense. Makes me want to play this game, play it now, and play it hard. Rock on. Could this be a hint at Ridley as a playable character? Will Brawl feature more robust boss fights in single player? What are the whereabouts of Master Hand and his crazy bro? Who knows? Ponder all of this with the rest of the world.

Talk about a yawn that ends up a satisfied “Hmm!”. Crates and barrels are back. Yeah, yeah - what’s so- [and they change appearance based on stage] …really… that’s actually pretty sweet. In addition, Sakurai (being the sneaky bastard he is), decided to make some of the crates have itty bitty wheels. Meaning that when you attempt to pick it up, you end up pushing it into motion, giving it the potential to go freight train on your opponents. This adds an interesting new mechanic, the ability to be significantly pushed around. “Hmm!” indeed.
At least he was wearing his helmet.
